myWNC self-service password reset

You can reset your own WNC password without calling anyone, as long as you know your username and you have already set up a security question. The whole process takes about two minutes.

Before you start

• Students: your username is your student ID with a "w" in front of it. If your student ID is 1000423567, your username is w1000423567.
• Faculty, staff & student employees: your username is first.last — for example, Mike.Smith.
• You will need access to the email account WNC has on file for you. For employees that is your WNC email address. For students it is whichever address you marked as preferred in myWNC.

Reset your password

1. Go to Forgot my password.
2. Enter your username and choose Continue.
3. Answer your security question.
4. A temporary password is emailed to the address WNC has on file. Check your spam or junk folder if it does not arrive within a few minutes.
5. Sign in at WNC Anywhere with the temporary password. You will be asked to choose a new password right away — the temporary one only works once.

Already signed in?

You do not need the reset flow. Sign in at WNC Anywhere and use the menu to change your password or update your security question.

Never activated your account?

New students and employees start at Activate my account instead. Activation sets your first password and your security question at the same time.

If self-service will not work for you

Call the WNC Help Desk at 877-269-0263 if you have not set up a security question yet (how to set one), if WNC has no current email address on file for you, or if you no longer have access to the address on file. Staff will verify your identity before making any change to your account.

How to spot a fake password reset

• WNC will never email or call you asking for your current password.
• WNC will never call and ask you to read back a code or a temporary password.
• WNC will never send you an unexpected "your account will be closed" link.
• Every legitimate WNC sign-in and password page lives on intranet.wnc.edu or wnc.edu. Check the address bar before you type a password. If a link came to you by email or text, type the address yourself instead of clicking it.
• If you think you entered your password somewhere you should not have, reset it using the steps above and then call the WNC Help Desk at 877-269-0263.
